The Broadcasting Corporation of China (BCC) was established on August 1, 1928 and soon became a member of both the International Broadcasting Union and of the Asian Broad-casting Union successively. Since its founding, its contributions to China have been both significant and numerous, such as the splendid services in transmitting official orders, encouraging people on the Chinese mainland, and improving understanding of traditional Chinese culture. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of BCC, a set of commemorative postage stamps was issued on August 1, 1968.
