The Good-People-Good-Deeds Campaign, began in 1958, has contributed much to the improvement of social morality and the betterment of ethical standards. To publicize this significant Campaign, a set of commemorative postage stamps was issued. The 0.40 stamp uses a rural scene with orchids in full bloom as its subject matter, symbolic of a Chinese proverb:〝There must be good people in your neighborhood as there must be fine growth within your reach.〞The 4.50 stamp shows a lighted candle with a heart-shaped shadow in the background. It indicates that the meaning of the Campaign is to kindle the celestial fire of everybody's conscience.
