The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) was inaugurated in December 1946, the only United Nations organization dedicated to improving child health and welfare standards. UNICEF in Taiwan was established in 1950, devoted to activities for promotion of child welfare. During the recent ten years, this organization played a significant role in aiding our government in the prevention of several infectious diseases through various projects. In commemoration of the UNICEF's contribution to children throughout the world during the past fifteen years, a set of postage stamps was issued with a picture of UNICEF distributing milk and the insignia of U.N. as its central design. On the same day, a souvenir sheet (136 × 100 mm.) consisting of the two stamps was also issued.
