2The Fifth World Forestry Congress sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was held in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. on August 29, 1960. More than 80 member countries of the United Nations and its specialized agencies sent representatives and experts to this Congress. The main purpose of the Congress was to stimulate and foster international cooperation in the proper development and use of world's forest resources, to provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas and information, and to foster and develop fellowship among the world's foresters. In order to stimulate public interest in the forestry problems, a set of 〝The Fifth World Forestry Congress〞 commemorative postage stamps was issued, together with souvenir sheets, with three different designs featuring the forestry operation. The souvenir sheet (100 × 145 mm.) was composed of three stamps placed side by side to make a complete forestry picture.
