In commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Sir Robert Baden-Powell and 50th Anniversary of World Scouts, a jamboree, involving more than 35,000 boy and girl scouts from different countries, was held at the Sutton Park, Warwickshire, England for 12 days from the 1st to 12th August 1957. As the scouts of the Republic of China were participants in this grand jamboree, a set of commemorative stamps was issued by the Postal Administration to commemorate the occasion with the symbol of the Chinese Scouts taken as the subject and some badges of the said jamboree as the background.
