March 29, Chinese Youth Day, is a day of historical and revolutionary significance. In the year before the establishment of the Republic, youthful revolutionaries inspired by the high ideals of our National Father, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, staged a revolution in Canton against the tyrannical rule of the Ching Dynasty.Seventy-two were killed in the uprising and buried at Huang Hua Kang. Their gallant deeds paved the way for the Wuchang Revolution in 1911. The four denominations of stamps were issued in two lots. The first lot comprising the 40¢and $10 denominations was issued on March 12, 1954 (Perf.12 1/2) and the second lot comprising the $20 and $50 denominations was issued on April 1, 1955.
