Mr. Lin Sen (林森), Chairman of the National Government and one of the elders of the Kuomintang, (Nationalist Party) passed away on August 1, 1943 at the wartime capital Chungking. As his death was mourned throughout the whole country, a set of commemorative stamps was issued with his portrait as the central design decorated with the national emblem and colored side frames.
