Chung Hwa Blue 　　The 30th anniversayr of the Republic of China fell on October 10, 1941, when the critical situation of War with Japan did not permit the issue of the commemorative stamps. Therefore, Dr. Sun Yat-sen's portrait and Martyrs' portrait stamps of Hongkong Print then in stock were overprinted in red or blue as commemorative stamps for this occasion. The characters〝中華民國創立三十週年紀念〞(to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Founding of the Republic of China) were overprinted in two vertical lines on the sides and the characters 〝三十年十月十日〞(October 10, 30th year) overprinted in a horizontal line at the bottom.　　The stamps were handed by the Postal Supply Department in Shanghai to a private printing press for overprinting in Nos. 5 and 6 Sung typeset characters in red and blue.　　Despite the removal of the Directorate General of Posts with the Central Government to the interior, the Post Offices in the Japanese occupied areas were still under the direction of the Central Government and were ordered to maintain the Postal Service as usual. The commemorative stamps, after they had been overprinted, were immediately sent to Shanghai, Nanking, etc., where they were issued on October 10, while the remote Postal Districts commenced the sale from the dates of receipt of the stamps.
