  The Postal Administration, which was formally inaugurated on March 20, 1896, completed its 40th year of service on March 20, 1936. To commemorate this occasion the Postal Administration issued stamps comprising four denominations with a total value of $1.32, a description of which follows:2¢  The central design shows the old and new means of mail transportation-camels, airplane, steamer, train and sailing junk.5¢  The central design is a scene of the Bund in Shanghai showing airplanes, steamers, junks and motor vehicles used for air and surface mail transport.25¢ The central design is a view of the front of the building of the Shanghai District Head Office, the 3rd floor of which was occupied for some time by the Directorate General of Posts after its removal from Peiping.$1  The central design is the building of the Ministry of Communications in Nanking, in which the Directorate General of Posts was housed. Two postal pillar boxes are the decorations on the two sides.
