After years of unremitting toil and hardship in the cause of national revolution, Dr. Sun Yat-sen died in Peiping on March 12, 1925. He was buried in a mausoleum on the slope of Purple Mountain, Nanking, In commemoration of the state burial, the Postal Administration issued a set of commemorative stamps with the Memorial Hall in front of the Mausoleum decorated on the two sides by rice stalks as the central design.
