In the beginning of May 1949, the use of silver dollars with a silver content of 50% was resumed in Yunnan. In order to cope with new requirements, the Yunnan District Head Office surcharged a part of obsolete stamps then in stock. The overprint bears No. 5 Regular-Writing characters reading〝滇省貼用〞(restricted for use in Yunnan) in black or blue on the right side, Chinese numeral characters on the left side, and Arabic figures at the bottom between these two lines.
