The stamps were surcharged by the Printing Bureau of the Ministry of Finance, Peking in red or black Regular-Writing characters reading 〝限新省貼用〞(restricted for use in Sinkiang) in a vertical line measuring about 15.5 mm. long. The 4¢ (gray), $10 and $20 denominations were printed on thin paper; the 4¢ (olive green) and 6¢ (brown) denominations on thick paper; and other denominations on both thin and thick paper. The 4¢ (olive green) denomination was issued in 1926 and 6¢ (brown) denomination in December 1936; and other denominations in 1924.
