The first and second sets of Personal Greeting Stamps, featuring “Best Wishes” and “Chinese Knots,” were released on December 12, 2001 and November 22, 2002 respectively. These stamps, which feature the customer’s photo on the tab of the stamps, were very well received since they double as postage stamps and souvenirs for oneself and one’s family and friends. Committed to provide a diverse array of services, Chunghwa Post is issuing a set of 16 stamps on the subject of “Expressions of Good Will.” These stamps match some of the most frequently used Chinese congratulatory expressions with plants, animals (real or mythical) or other subjects that are important in Chinese culture and whose pronunciation in Chinese is a homonym for one of the words in the matched expressions. The stamps will be released on August 9, 2003. Five of the stamps will have denominations of NT$3.50, ten will have denominations of NT$5 and the last a denomination of NT$12.Bliss, longevity, a good job, and joy have traditionally been the four main goals for happiness in Chinese people’s lives. The “Expressions of Good Will Postage Stamps” have ten themes: “Good Fortune as Vast as the Eastern Seas,” “Longevity to Rival the Southern Mountains,” “Forever Bathing in the River of Love,” “Wholeness and Plenty,” “Peace and Fulfillment,” “Success and Preeminence,” “Year after Year Surplus,” “Steady Career Advance,” “The Chilin Brings a Child” and “Bright Future.” Whether it’s to convey best wishes to seniors on their birthdays, or to offer congratulations to family or friends on the birth of a child, success on an examination, marriage, getting a promotion or starting a new business, these stamps are well suited to the tasks of letting the recipients feel the senders’ warmest regards and leaving a wonderful memory. The non-personalized Expressions of Good Will Stamps that will be available in the post offices will be in a format of 20 stamps a sheet. The personalized ones, designed to meet customers’ individual needs, will be printed in 18 different formats.
