Fruit is an important agricultural product of Taiwan. The Directorate General of Posts has chosen sixteen fruits for a series of sixteen stamps, which will be issued separately in different sets. The first set was released on February 23, 2001. The second set, featuring plums, tangerines, longans and grapefruits, will be released on August 23, 2001. The stamps, which were painted by Mr. Lee Kuang-chi and are being printed in color deep-etch offset by China Engraving & Printing Works, will have denominations of NT$1.00, NT$3.50, NT$20.00 and NT$40.00.
