In commemoration of President Chiang's distinguished services to the country, the Postal Administration issued a set of President Chiang Kai-shek stamps on October 31, 1953 on the occasion of his 67th birthday. The design is a portrait of the President without border or frame. The inscription〝中華民國郵政〞(Republic of China Postal Service) in Chinese and the wording〝Republic of China〞in English appear in two lines at the bottom. The whole set consists of 15 denominations. At the same time stamps of the same denominations were printed on 80-lb woodfree printing paper in the form of booklets measuring 153 mm.× 109 mm. The covering page has a colored arch bearing the Chinese Seal characters〝民主之光〞(light of democracy), in addition to the usual inscription〝中華民國郵政〞 (Republic of China Postal Service) at the bottom. Each booklet consists of four sheets. The first sheet is blank, intended to be used for signatures and other inscriptions. Each of other three sheets contains five stamps of different denominations.
