After the adoption of the silver dollar currency for postage, immediate steps were taken to print a series of basic stamps (1) in the design of the Wild Geese at Shanghai and (2) in the design of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's portrait at Chungking by the Hwa Nan Printing Press, the latter being the design formerly used for printing of the Gold Yuan stamps. There is no difference in wording, plates, ctc., except an additional inscription 〝郵資〞(postage) printed on the right side of the Chinese numeral characters.
