On V-J Day communication was so dislocated that it was impossible to send to Honan enough stamp supplies in time. The Honan Postal District Head Office, therefore, was given special mission to put on sale temporarily the stamps issued by North China Puppet Regime with the value altered locally into National Currency in order to meet urgent requirements. The stamps approved for temporary use in Honan were those bearing the martyrs portraits and printed by the so-called〝Printing Bureau of the North China Political Council〞(formerly the Peiping Printing Bureau of the Ministry of Finance). The characters 〝華北〞(North China) deleted with a thick horizontal bar were the original overprint made by the Puppet Regime, and the wording 〝國幣××圓〞(national currency ×× dollars) in No. 5 Sung characters in green color arranged in two vertical lines below this bar line was the new overprint made by the Honan District Head Office. The sale began on October 9, 1945 and was suspended on December 15 of the same year after the arrival of the regular stamps.
