The highest denomination of definitive stamps printed by the Central Trust of China, Chungking in 1942 was $5. In order to cope with business requirements, the Postal Administration signed a contract with the Pai Cheng Printing Press at Nanping in Fukien Province (福建南平百城印務局) for the printing of stamps in higher denominations in intaglio. The design was also the protrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen somewhat similar to that of the Hongkong Print. The stamps printed at the earliest stage were unpeforated. In subsequent printings the stamps were partly rouletted and partly perforated in an irregular gauge.
