In 1931 copies of photographs of the Revolutionary Martyrs were supplied to the Postal Administration by their families. After careful selection, they were sent to the Thomas de la Rue & Co., Ltd., London, to make the master dies. From the latter, the Peiping Printing Bureau of the Ministry of Finance reproduced all the required plates, from which the Martyr Stamps were printed. The designs are quite similar to the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Issue of the London Print. In the center of each stamp is the portrait of a Martyr enclosed in a foliated oval with the national emblem at the top.The issue consists of 12 denominations to commemorate the following six martyrs： 1/2￠and　2 1/2￠　 Martyr Teng Keng;　　1￠and　　 50￠ 　Martyr Ch’en Ying-shih;　　3￠and　　 30￠　 Martyr Liao Chung-kai;　　8￠and　　 13￠　 Martyr Chu Chih-hsin;　 10￠and　　 17￠　 Martyr Sung Chiao-jen;　 20￠and　　 40￠　 Martyr Huang Hsing;The dimensions of stamps are as a rule 19.5mm. in width and 22.5 mm. in height. Some of the 1/2￠,1￠, 3￠, 10￠, 30￠, and 50￠denominations measure only 21.5 mm. in height.　　The making of master dies by the Thomas de la Rue & Co., Ltd., London was repeatedly mentioned in reports of Directorate General of Posts to the Ministry of Communications No. 152 of April 9, 1930; No. 49 of February 18, 1932; No. 252 of September 26, 1932; and No. 71 of January 20, 1933.　　In additon, the 1￠stamps were bound with the 2￠, 5￠and 25￠stamps of the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Issue, London Print and sold in booklets.
