Because some lots of postage stamps were printed satisfactorily locally, the Printing Bureau of the Ministry of Finance, Peking which had done this work in the past, was asked to make new plates for the Junk, Reaper and Hall of Classics stamps, following the model of the London Print. The stamps are of 19 denominations, identical with those printed at London. In 1919 three additional denominations (1 1/2 ¢ , 13¢ , and $20) were printed.Following are the differences between the London and Peking prints:London Print(1)Paper: strong and semitransparent.(2)Lines: fine and clear cut.(3)Color: light and brilliant.(4)Teeth-like lines below the label bearing the characters〝中華民國郵政〞(Re-public of China Postal Service) are short and thin. The leftside vertical stroke to the Chinese character 〝國〞(Kuo) is straight (P-4).(5)The top stroke of the Chinese character 〝國〞(Kuo )is straight. The first stroke of the Chinese character〝郵〞(Yu) is triangular in shape and touches the line above it (P-6). The sickle touches the wheat stalk. The left heel of the reaper shows some slight defect. The tip of the left foot touches the shadow on the ground (P-8).(6)The arrow-shaped lines under the roof of the turret are complete. The lower box is rectangular(P-10). The top part of the second stroke of the Chinese character 〝圓〞(Yuan) is straight; the vertical sides of the character are full (P-12).Peking Print(1)Paper: thick and opaque.(2)Lines: comparatively heavier.(3)Color: darker and duller.(4)Teeth-like lines below the label comparatively long and thick. The rightside vertical stroke of the Chinese character〝國〞(Kuo) is curved toward the left (P-5)(5)The top stroke of the Chinese character 〝國〞(Kuo) is curved. The first stroke of the Chinese character〝郵〞(Yu) is straight and short, and does not touch the line above it (P-7).There is space between the sickle and the wheat stalk. The left heel of the reaper is complete. The tip of the left foot does not touch the shadow on the ground (P-9).(6)Part of the arrow-shaped lines on the right under the roof of the turret is missing. The inner box is oval (P-11).The second stroke of Chinese character〝圓〞(Yuan) is slightly curved at the top and its end on the right side is somewhat broken (P-13).
