Sports Postage Stamps (Issue of 2019)

Sports Postage Stamps (Issue of 2019)
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) in association with the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association is hosting in Taiwan the Group B games of the WBSC Premier 12 competition on November 5-7, 2019. The baseball tournament will serve as a qualifying round for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. To mark this occasion and promote baseball, Chunghwa Post is specially issuing “Sports Postage Stamps (Issue of 2019),” a set of four stamps featuring baseball.
The set comprises a se-tenant block of four stamps, two with a denomination of NT$6 and two with a denomination of NT$8. A baseball field serves as the background for the stamps with one player from the Chinese Taipei squad either hitting, pitching, fielding or sliding into a base on each of the individual stamps—conveying a sense of both power and beauty. Befitting the “Premier 12” logo found on each of the stamps, there are baseball bats and balls in the gutter between the upper and lower stamps in the block.
To add to collecting interest, one exclusive sheet of “Sports Postage Stamps (Issue of 2019) Limited Edition,” which features four stamps, will be released along with each stamp yearbook/stamp album 2019. With a serial number on each sheet and because of its limited quantities issued, it is truly worth collecting.
