Description
The adoption of a pair of dogs as the central design on this set of stamps serves a dual purpose. First, it satisfies popular interest because, ac-cording to the traditional Chinese calendar system, 1970 is the year of the Dog. Secondly, it promotes the virtues of loyalty and faithfulness, because in Chinese folklore the dog signifies these two virtues.
