Description

  Dr. Lin Yutang was born on October 10, 1895 in Lung-hsi, Changchow, Fukien. In 1910, Lin enrolled in St. John's University majoring in literature.. In 1919, he married and in the same year he and his wife went to the United States, where he studied comparative literature at Harvard University and obtained a M.A. degree in 1921. Lin then went to Germany, where he attended Leipzig University, from which he received a Ph. D. degree. Known as 〝Master of Humor〞, Dr. Lin wrote many famous and popular essays. He contributed most in the field of linguistics. Evidence of this is reflected in many kinds of dictionary now sold at book stores.
