Wild Orchids of Taiwan Postage Stamp

The particular geological, topographical and botanical setting of Taiwan with its steep mountains make it an ideal place for many species of orchid. As an introduction to the beauty of orchids, Chunghwa Post plans to issue one Wild Orchids of Taiwan Postage Stamp on November 16, 2017.
Cheirostylis octodactyla (NT$35): This orchid grows on the ground in the mid to high-altitude cloud forests of Taiwan. The white flower is 0.8-1.0 cm long with many feather-like appendages in front. Its foot turns back like a little octopus.
This stamp is planned by Associate Professor Shih-wen Chung at
Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, painted by ecology painter Mr. Chi-jen Lai, and printed by China Color Printing Co., Ltd. in color offset. By-issues including a first-day cover, folders with and without crystal mounts, and a loose-leaf album page will be released along with the stamp and will go on sale on November 14, 2017. A pre-canceled FDC with a single stamp will go on sale on November 16, 2017, the stamps’ date of issuance.
